Honorary President: Tony Hu, (Executive Vice Chairman, Altai Hu Group)
Tony Hu, is the Executive Board Vice Chairman of Altai Hu Group and Executive Board Chairman of Altai Hu International Co., Ltd. He attended university in the United States with major in International Business and Corporate Law.
In 2001, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Altai Hu's Holdings South East Asia operation to oversee and expand its business units. In 2006, he returned to Taiwan and was appointed as the Board Chairman of Altai Hu International Co., Ltd. In 2010, he was appointed as the Executive Vice Chairman of Altai Hu Group.
In 2011, he founded HHY Memorial Foundation in honor of Altai Hu Group's Founder, Hu Hwo Yen, and his past philanthropic efforts. The Foundation supports various scholars, organizations, and institutions for education, medical, art and advanced science researches.
President: Thomas Penzel, Ph.D. (Charite Medical University, Berlin, Germany)
Thomas Penzel, Ph.D., is a Professor of Physiology and the Scientific Director at the Centre of Sleep Medicine, Charité University Hospital in Berlin. The Center is affiliated with the Department of Cardiology. Research focuses on the development of devices for ambulatory investigation of sleep and sleep disorders and the development of new analysis algorithms to detect sleep disorders.
Dr. Penzel has been a member of the German Sleep Society Board from 1993 to 2001. In 2001 he received the Bial price for clinical medicine with an international group working on neurotelemedicine in the republic of Portugal.
In 2008 Dr. Penzel received the Bill Gruen award for innovations in sleep research given by the American Sleep Rese-arch Society. Dr. Penzel has published more than 160 papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and edited 6 books. Since 2003 he is the editor-in-chief of the German journal Somnologie.

Vitiello, Professor, Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Gerontology & Geriatric Medicine, and Biobehavioral Nursing; Co-Director, Center for Research on Management of Sleep Disturbances (CRMSD); Associate Director, Northwest Geriatric Education Center (NWGEC) University of Washington; Seattle, WA, USA Professor Vitiello is Past President of the Sleep Research Society, Editor-in-Chief (for the Americas) of Sleep Medicine Reviews, a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society and of Sleep Medicine, and a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. His NIH funded research focuses on the causes, consequences and treatments of disturbed sleep, circadian rhythms and cognition in older adults.

After completion of the fellowship in Stanford Sleep Disorders Center in 2005, Dr. Rayleigh Ping-Ying Chiang has devoted himself to sleep medicine and sleep technology. His team is currently focusing on international collaboration of research and sleep technology industry. In June 2010, he got the honor of “Investigator Award” from American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
As the president, he also organized the “1st International Sleep Technology Symposium” and the “2nd International Sleep Technology Symposium” in National Taiwan University in September 2010 and October 2011 respectively. In addition to the invitation as a visiting professor of University of Washington, Seattle and Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, U.S.A. in 2011, Dr. Chiang also edited the textbook - “Introduction to Modern Sleep Technology”.Wikipedia Link

The responsibility of the International Committee is to promote and facilitate international research collaboration within academia, industries and governments. It is also responsible for proposing agendas for international organizations and forums such as APEC, WEF, EU, WHO, etc. to raise the awareness of the importance of modern sleep technology.

Public Advocacy Committee
The responsibility of the Popularizing Committee is to communicate the importance and impact of sleep science and technology to the international audience through website, publishings or exposures in media. It is also responsible for organizing awareness activities, cooperating with the International Committee and R&D Committee and writing bi-monthly newsletters for ISSTA members.

Research & Development Committee
The responsibilities of the Research & Development Committee (R&D Committee) are to review the proposals by ISSTA members and issue grants together with the Board of Directors, to do the basic and cross-domain researches, to develop the techniques, devices and instruments based on these researches, and to establish the standards (such as UL, ISO) in this field and issue certificates for the members and third parties.

The responsibilities of the Education Committee are to establish the first global Sleep Science and Technology Master/Ph.D. Program (to be co-directed with participating universities from all over the world), to offer regular training courses on Sleep Science and Technology and to host the board exams in the field of Sleep Science and Technology.
